Who we are

We are a Baptist church, holding to the doctrine of salvation by grace, commonly called Calvinism. We are a Strict Baptist church meaning that the Lord’s Supper is restricted to those who have been baptised by immersion and united in church membership. (“Strict” is a contraction of “restricted.”) Often we are called “Particular Baptists” as we believe that the salvation of the Lord Jesus was for a particular or distinct people, and not general for all mankind. We adhere to the Gospel Standard magazine and so are sometimes known as “Gospel Standard Baptists.”

We are an independent church, meaning that all matters relating to the conduct of the church are decided by the members alone. We support the work of the Trinitarian Bible Society, the Christian Institute, and, from our charitable fund, other Christian charities including the Savannah Education Trust and the Mombasa Mission. We do not belong to the Baptist Union, nor do we support the ecumenical Churches Together movement.

Everyone is warmly welcome to our services.
